This Summer, see work from graduating RCA students at #RCA2024 – a series of exhibitions, events and activities from 20 June to 4 August!
RCA Painting is a world-renowned postgraduate programme committed to interrogating the meanings, forms and futures of painting in the contemporary world. Embracing painting as a material practice and way of thinking, our studio-based programme is enrichened through a varied provision of teaching, bespoke facilities, and professional development opportunities that enable our students to flourish as independent artists, researchers and thinkers. Supported by a dedicated faculty of artists and theorists and leading invited contributors, we cultivate an inclusive approach and encourage students to develop a criticality rooted in strong histories whilst affirming today’s diverse transnational and intercultural contexts.

‘SET IN MOTION’ celebrates the courageous spirit of artists who boldly explore the unknown and seek answers to profound questions. This exhibition showcases diverse artworks that examine themes such as creation, gender expression, and our interconnectedness with all living beings. Tutussie - A Part Of US

Through this exhibition concept, “A Part of Us” explores the rich symbolism, cultural significance, and emotional resonance of the color red, inviting visitors to connect with and reflect on its universal appeal.
“A part of us”: This phrase emphasizes the collective aspect of humanity, suggesting that we are all connected by shared experiences, emotions, and aspirations. It speaks to the universal elements of the human condition that bind us together, regardless of cultural, social, or geographical differences.

Echoes of Entanglement

The entanglement can be referred to as the dialectic of coexistence between human and things that are relationally produced in a static narrative, having, carrying and giving. As individuals is exploring the entanglement between themselves and external things, it also can be recognized the ways in which a continual and exponentially increasing dynamism lies at the heart of the human experience. The exhibition explores the potential power of such entanglement between human and things in various artistic practices.

The material, the very essence of an artwork, is the matter and substance that is transformed yet not entirely absorbed into the representational. However, the material from which it is formed is often overlooked by the viewer or used automatically by an artist. ‘Material Voices’ brings together eight artists whose conscious intention is to explore the material as a driving force, the subject, and the symbolism of artwork.
